The design patent of a 150cc Benelli motorcycle, codenamed Benelli BJ150-31 has been leaked, reports MotorcycleMagazine.com.
Going by the codename, the bike is intended for the Asian markets by the QianJiang Group which owns Benelli. The '150' in the codename stands for the engine capacity and the ‘31’ stands for the model number. The previous model was a faired 150cc bike with the codename BJ150-30, patented by Benelli.

The bike gets a sculpted fuel tank design with large shrouds on both sides. The shrouds house the radiator, which indicates the bike will draw power from a 150cc liquid cooled single cylinder engine. The frame looks like a beam type unit and the front end gets upside down forks. The rear receives a monoshock.

The bike rides on alloy wheels and comes to a halt using a disc brake on both ends. The alloy wheel design is similar to the Benelli TNT 150 sold in China. The rear view mirrors also look like it has been borrowed from the Chinese motorcycle.
The split-seats are well padded, and the stubby tail holds the indicators and the number plate. The indicators are LED units, and headlamp design is reminiscent of the 2017 KTM 390 Duke. It is likely that the model could make its way into the European market as a learner’s bike.
The Indian launch of the bike is unlikely. However, Benelli is testing a cruiser and a maxi scooter in the country, both quarter-litre products, indicating that the focus is on premium segments.
