Bajaj Auto will launch the Bajaj Pulsar VS 400 later this month. Here are five things we know about the company's upcoming flagship motorcycle.
1. Origins
The Bajaj Pulsar VS 400 was originally introduced in concept form as the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 at Auto Expo 2014. It will be after over two years that the concept will evolve into the road-going model and reach customers.
2. Design
The Bajaj Pulsar VS 400 has been seen many times in spyphotos and spy videos during its development, and was revealed in a leaked image in July. From these images, it's evident that the Bajaj Pulsar VS 400 won't change much from the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 concept.
3. Engine & Transmission
The Bajaj Pulsar VS 400 will be powered by the KTM Duke 390's 373.27 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This motor churns out 32 kW (44 hp) in the KTM Duke 390, but will reportedly develop only 25.74 kW (34.5 hp) in the Pulsar VS 400 . This maximum power will be available at 8,000 rpm. The engine would be mated to a 6-speed transmission.
4. Features
The Bajaj Pulsar VS 400 will feature telescopic front suspension, monoshock rear suspension, a full-digital instrument panel, auxiliary digital display on the fuel tank and front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS. A non-ABS variant could also be offered.
