Borrows its engine from the 200 NS.
On the heels of Bajaj announcing the name of the forthcoming Bajaj Pulsar RS200, specifications of the new motorcycle have been published by the company for the Turkish market.
Matching up to the tagline of the 'Fastest Pulsar Yet', Bajaj says the RS200 comes with "innovative and superior technology", a 200 cc, 4-valve engine, and "eye-catching design".
The RS200 gets Bajaj's triple-spark technology, and the manufacturer claims this helps in ideal engine speeds especially at cruising or high-speeds. Among other highlights, 'great fuel efficiency' and 'low-emissions' are highlighted.
Basically though, the Bajaj Pulsar 200 RS borrows its engine from the 200 NS. The 199.5 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine produces 24.4 PS at 9,500 rpm and 18.6 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. In comparison, the Pulsar 200 NS in India makes 23.52 PS and 18.3 Nm of torque at the same revs. Naturally, a 6-speed gearbox will do duty on the motorcycle.
The Pulsar RS200 will measure 2,060 mm in length, 750 mm in width, 1,160 mm in height and come with a 165 mm ground clearance. With a 12 liter fuel tank, the RS200 will weigh 151 kg. Again, to put that in a comparable format, the 200 NS gets a 14.3 liter fuel tank and weighs 145 kg.
There is nothing fancy in the suspension department as the Pulsar RS200 will get a telescopic setup up front and a single spring damper for the rear. Even the wheels, which are 100/80 spec at the front and 130/70 at the rear on 17-inch rims would be identical to the 200 NS.
A 280 mm butterfly type front disc, and a 230 mm butterfly type rear disc will be seen on the RS200, of the same size as the NS.
On the feature front, the Bajaj Pulsar 200RS would come equipped with LED daytime running lights in the front fairing, LED taillights and dual-projector headlights with automatic headlight function. A sculpted seat and a brushed finish for parts like the handlebar complete the racy design.
Having teased the RS200 on Facebook, Bajaj is expected to launch its first fully faired bike next month, with certain dealers having reportedly started bookings, with a promised delivery time by end of April.
More details are expected in the days to come.
