The ongoing labor unrest at Bajaj Auto's Chakan plant near Pune has affected production of the Bajaj Pulsar and the KTM Duke (200 & 390 variants).

The strike has forced Bajaj to shift a part of the Pulsar's production to its Waluj plant to prevent delivery delays. Even as the hearing of the dispute is being conducted in Pune's labour court, Bajaj's managed to restore production of the Pulsar to the normal level of about 3,000 units a day.

Aided by the contribution from the Waluj plant which churns out 1,100 units of Pulsar every day, Bajaj is able to cater to the market demand. About 2,000 Pulsar are being made at Chakan by the decreased workforce, which stood at 3,000 prior to the strike.

In his statement to Autocarpro.in, Mr. Aditya Joshi, Bajaj auto's lawyer said that the representatives of the labor association have failed to come up with a lawyer or file a statement defending the strike. The next court hearing is scheduled on the 29th of July and if representatives fail to file their statement, the court would proceed with Bajaj's statement.

The strike has come as a speed breaker for Bajaj especially when the newly launched KTM Duke 390 is receiving rave reviews. The two wheeler maker has assured customers that the deliveries of the Duke 390 would happen as per the original schedule.
