A non-ABS version will be offered too.
The Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS is one of the most anticipated bikes of the year. It is also Bajaj Auto’s first fully faired motorcycle. Spotted several times under camouflage on the road, this is the first time that the showroom ready version of the 200 cc machine has been photographed in India.
We remind readers that the motorcycle has already received its first external presentation in Turkey last month.
Borrowing styling cues from the Bajaj Pulsar 400 SS concept, which was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the new generation Pulsar sports dual projector headlamps, clip-on handlebars and a short side-slung exhaust.
The engine is based on the Pulsar 200NS sporting the same 199.6 cc displacement that produces 23.2 bhp power and 18.3 Nm of torque.
While the motorcycle shown in pictures appears to be the ABS version, Bajaj also reportedly plans to launch a non-ABS version of the 200 SS. Sporting a full fairing, the machine would be considerably heavier than the 200 NS, and it would be interesting to see the state of engine and ECU tuning that Bajaj incorporates to compensate for the extra weight.
Poised to be launched in the coming weeks or months, the Bajaj Pulsar 200 SS would be slotted higher than the Pulsar 200 NS and below the KTM RC 200, in a price bracket between INR 1.2 lakh to 1.5 lakh. While it might be slightly down on power compared to the RC 200, the presence of ABS on the SS could be a decisive factor for many considering the lower price point.
