Kawasaki India has started accepting bookings for the 2020 Kawasaki ZX-14R, as per a report from Autocar India. The sports tourer is one of the last remaining bastions of the old world when the Big Four were in the midst of a massive fight for supremacy for horsepower and engine displacement.
The 2020 Kawasaki ZX-14R brings only a minor cosmetic update to the table. In the US market, the new colour option is called “Metallic Diablo Black/Golden Blazed Green”. Mechanically, the 2020 Kawasaki is powered by the same 1,441 cc liquid-cooled, four-cylinder mill that produces 200 PS of power (210 PS with Ram air intake) and 158.2 Nm of torque. These numbers are the same as the 2017 model retailed in India.

Interestingly, the 2020 Kawasaki ZX-14R traces its origins to the edition released in 2012. Globally, talks are rife that Kawasaki will introduce a new model soon. However, an official word on the same is still awaited. It will be interesting to see how Kawasaki positions a new ZX-14R when it already have the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX. Yes, with the Suzuki Hayabusa discontinued globally, the 2020 Kawasaki ZX-14R may very well be the last of its kind!
The report further adds that bookings for the 2020 Kawasaki ZX-14R will be open only till 19 October 2019. This is because dealers want to place an order with the parent company in Japan to get a handover before the introduction of new BS-VI emission norms.
The 2020 Kawasaki ZX-14R will carry the same price tag as the 2017 model (INR 19.70 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi). Its prime rival, the Suzuki Hayabusa is currently priced in India at INR 13.74 lak (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Kawasaki will be unveiling a new supercharged street-naked motorcycle at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show on 23 October 2019. Called as the Kawasaki Z H2, the bike will borrow the forced induction powertrain from the Ninja H2.
