In terms of design, the 2020 Ninja 650 benefits from a full LED headlight that resembles the Ninja 400 and the Ninja ZX-6R. The fairing, too, is sharper in the latest form, resulting in a far more aggressive design. The new upper cowl is wide, while the redesigned windshield is lower and a flush-fit with it. Tweaks to the fuel tank add a muscular look to the middleweight sports tourer. The tank capacity, however, is the same as that of the old model - 15 litres. The split-style, step-up saddle is also something that's not new.

The equipment upgrade on the motorcycle, as mentioned above, brings a 4.3-inch, colour TFT-display to the package. The background colour is selectable between black or white. The screen brightness adjusts automatically to suit the available light. The RIDEOLOGY smartphone app can be used to connect to the motorcycle to check latest status update, record riding log and getting a call or mail notification from the phone. Rest of the information on the display may include:

  • Digital speedometer
  • Digital bar-style tachometer
  • Gear position indicator
  • Shift lamp
  • Fuel gauge
  • Odometer
  • Dual trip meters
  • Current and average fuel consumption
  • Remaining range
  • Average speed
  • Total time
  • Coolant temperature
  • Clock
  • Battery voltage
  • Kawasaki service reminder
  • Oil change reminder
  • Economical Riding Indicator

The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is available in three colour options:

  • Lime Green / Ebony (Kawasaki Racing Team KRT)
  • Metallic Spark Black
  • Pearl Blizzard White

We expect at least two colour choices to be available in the Indian market. The Lime Green / Ebony (Kawasaki Racing Team KRT) scheme looks identical to the Ninja 400's that is already available in the Indian market.

Underpinnings and other hardware are identical to the outgoing model. Thus, shock absorption tasks are performed by telescopic forks (right side up) at the front and a monoshock at the back. Braking department comprises twin petal-type discs at the front and a single petal-type rotor at the back. The short exhaust canister gives the bike a cleaner look from the sides. In terms of mechanical specifications, the India-bound 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 650 will arrive with a BS-VI compliant motor. The motor is linked to a six-speed gearbox.
