The 2020 Royal Enfield range has been spotted on various occasions in the past. Using the styling details revealed by the spy photographs, IAB's digital artist Shoeb Kalania has created a rendering of the 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X BS-VI.

As seen in the spy images, the styling of the BS-VI compliant Royal Enfield range will not be very different from the existing models, and the same has been imagined through the render. Being the Thunderbird 500X, the rendered motorcycle features alloy wheels.
Like the current model, the 2020 model will have a round headlight, curvy design for the fuel tank with a chrome lid and black paint on various parts. A chrome heat shield will add a nice contrast to the styling. The saddle on the BS-VI compliant Thunderbird X will feature a split style layout. The current bike, for reference, uses a single-piece seat. The pillion grabrail will retain the split design from the current version for a sporty look. Prominent changes are visible at the rear where the 2020 Thunderbird 500X will feature a round stoplight, low-placed blinkers and a repositioned registration plate.
Apart from the 500X, Royal Enfield will also introduce a full-blown cruiser style Thunderbird model. A spy video revealed the revised ergonomics on the new motorcycle.
The hardware specifications will be retained from the existing range, and the 2020 range will continue to use conventional telescopic front forks and gas-charged rear twin springs in the shock absorption department. Braking hardware will comprise disc brakes on both wheels along with the safety of dual-channel ABS unit.
The engine will receive additional parts such as fuel injection system (for 350) and O2 sensor among other updates to comply with the BS-VI norms. The performance numbers are not likely to be very different from the BS-IV range. Thus, the 499 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine should deliver 27.57 PS at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The 346 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor, on the other hand, can return approximately 20.07 PS at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The drive-chain position on the BS-VI models has been revised, and it now sits on the left side of the motorcycles.

The BS-VI models should debut in the first quarter of the calendar year 2020 (January to March), ahead of the 1 April deadline to comply with the new norms.
