Jawa Motorcycles have run into a roadblock in the state of Kerala where the Regional Transport Office, Ernakulam, (RTO) has denied the registration of a Galactic Green Forty-Two. The RTO stated that the Galactic Green (Matte) matches the Olive Green shade that is reserved for Army vehicles, thus violating the Motor Vehicles Act.

This Regional Transport Officer wrote in the letter:
On inspection of the vehicle, at the time of permanent registration, the authority realized that the vehicle is with the colour of Olive Green, which is against the existing Motor Vehicles Rule. Hence you are directed to attend for a personal hearing before the under signed within 7 days with relevant documents.
Classic Legends is working with the RTO to resolve the issue and get the motorcycle registered. The company officials confirmed that the registration of the Galactic Green colour has not been an issue anywhere else in the country. Ashish Joshi, CEO, Classic Legends, stated in a Direct Message to the customer that the company would hand over all the required documents and resolve the issue very soon.
The Jawa Forty-Two is available in six colour options:
- Galactic Green (Matte)
- Halley’s Teal (Matte)
- Lumos Lime (Matte)
- Starlight Blue (Matte)
- Comet Red (Glossy)
- Nebula Blue (Glossy)
Launched in November last year, the Jawa Forty-Two is available in two variants. One is the rear drum/single-channel ABS that was introduced in November and the other is the rear disc/dual-channel ABS version that was launched a few days later, in December. The single-channel ABS variant is available at INR 1.55 lakh*, while the dual-channel ABS version retails at INR 1.64 lakh* respectively. The Jawa Forty-Two and Jawa Classic command a waiting period of up to 10 months. Classic Legends commenced the deliveries of the single-channel ABS motorcycle in March this year and the dual-channel ABS bikes this month.
Both bikes, the Classic and Forty-Two, draw power from a 293 cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine that churns out 27.37 PS of power and 28 Nm of torque and returns an ARAI certified economy of 37.5 km/l. The hardware specifications comprise conventional telescopic front forks and twin-sided rear springs.
Classic Legends will launch the third Jawa product, the Perak Bobber, likely in the fourth quarter. The bookings for the Bobber are scheduled to commence from September.
