The Ducati Diavel 1260 will come with a slew of visual and mechanical upgrades over its predecessor. The motorcycle will arrive in the Indian market via the CKD route from Thailand. A photograph of the motorcycle was snapped on the Indian shares back in May 2019, when the launch was said to take place by the end of June.
Like the Diavel 1200, the Diavel 1260 will be sold in two variants – 1260 and 1260S. Both variants carry identical engine specifications and draw power from the 1,262 cc Ducati Testastretta DVT, L-twin cylinder, liquid-cooled, 8-valve engine with Desmodromic Variable Timing. The motor is coupled to a six-speed gearbox and delivers 159 hp of max power at 9,500 rpm and 129 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. The bike comes with Ride by Wire (RbW) throttle that allows the rider to select from three modes – Sport, Touring and Urban. Each mode alters various parameters such as power output, ABS level, traction control, engine braking, etc.
The S version comes with premium features and hardware over the standard models. The list of premium equipment on the S model includes fully adjustable Öhlins suspensions on both ends, Brembo M50 callipers, Ducati Quick Shift up & down Evo (DQS) and Ducati Multimedia System with Ducati Link App. The standard bike comes with Brembo M4.32 callipers, while the DQS system can be added as an accessory.
The electronic package works with a 6-axis Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit (6D IMU), and the rider aids comprise Bosch Cornering ABS EVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO, Ducati Power Launch (DPL) EVO and Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO. The motorcycle also benefits from full LED lighting (headlamp, blinker and taillight), backlit handlebar switches, 3.4-inch TFT display, rear hugger mounted number plate and blinkers and cruise control system.

The Ducati Diavel 1260 will most definitely carry a premium over the outgoing model. The Ducati Diavel 1260 Standard is likely to arrive at INR 17 lakh* figure, while the more premium S model may command INR 20 lakh* tag. The maintenance intervals stand at 15,000 km or 12 months - whichever comes before, while valve play must be checked every 30,000 km.
