The first spy shot of the 2019 Maruti Baleno has finally popped up, and it shows the upcoming model completely undisguised. The facelifted model is set to go on sale in February 2019.
The Maruti Baleno has received a subtle makeover with the facelift. The curvaceous small hatchback gets a sportier front bumper with protruding outer ends bracketing small side air intakes and a new chrome accent front grille.
Maruti Suzuki may introduce LED projector headlamps to the Baleno with the facelift or could save them for when it introduces a BSVI engine with a price hike next year. It looks like the company has replaced the micro antenna with a shark fin antenna, which is it doesn't offer on current models. On the sides, the updated model may feature new alloy wheels.
The interior is likely to remain mostly unchanged. The mid-cycle update may bring revisions such as a change in the fabric pattern and decor elements and enhancements to the Smartplay infotainment system and the 4.2-inch colour MID. The flagship Maruti Suzuki hatchback may gain cruise control, which is already included in the export-spec version.
The Maruti Baleno will likely continue with the current engines and transmissions post facelift. The K12M 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine comes married to a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The D13A 1.3-litre diesel engine sends the drive to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. That said, the diesel engine is likely to get discontinued around the year-end without a replacement.
