Swedish bikemaker Husqvarna Motorcycles has taken the wraps off the production version of the Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 flat tracker at the EICMA 2018 in Milan, Italy.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 Side Profile

Husqvarna had showcased the Svartpilen 701 Concept flat tracker at last year’s EICMA. The Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 flat tracker is based on the KTM 690 Duke platform and uses the same chassis and engine from its Austrian sibling. The motorcycle features an LED headlight, raised handlebar and a fully-digital instrument cluster that’s angled towards the rider.

It continues with the radical fuel tank design that’s seen on the Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 café racer. However, the tail section features the flat tracker design with the racing number side panel. The air filter is neatly wrapped under the single seat. The fuel tank can hold a maximum of 12 litres, while the taillights are all-LED.

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 sources power from the 692.7 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor that is tuned to produce 74.78 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 72 Nm at 6750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. It comes with a ride-by-wire throttle, traction control system and a slipper clutch.

Husqvarna has also showcased the Vitpilen 701 Aero Concept at the EICMA 2018. The Svartpilen 701 flat tracker is slated for its global launch sometime in 2019. The bike is unlikely to make its way to the Indian market. Instead, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401 is expected launch in India by Diwali 2019.

The Husqvarna Svarpilen 701 is underpinned by a steel trellis frame that houses the engine. Suspension duties are shouldered by 43 mm fully-adjustable WP upside-down forks up front and an adjustable WP mono-shock at the rear.

Stopping power comes from a single 320 mm front rotor and a 240 mm rear disc brake, with standard switchable ABS as standard. The Svartpilen 701 rides on lightweight 18-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels that wrap on Pirelli MT60 RS tubeless tyres.
