The motorcycle shares the same chassis and engine platform with the KTM 690 Duke. On the latter, the fuel-injected motor is capable of pumping out a maximum power of 74 bhp at 8,500 rpm while generating a peak torque of 72 Nm at 6,750 rpm. A 6-speed transmission transfers drive to the wheels, while an assist and slipper clutch is standard.
Apart from the engine and chassis, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 will also share the bodywork, electricals, suspension, brakes and wheels with the Vitpilen 701. Suspension setup will comprise of 43 mm WP inverted front forks and an adjustable linkage-type rear mono-shock from WP. Braking force will come from a 320 mm front disc with Brembo radial callipers, along with a 240 mm rear disc, while switchable dual-channel Bosch ABS will be standard.
The Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 is likely to feature a neo-classic design language, which will be similar to the Vitpilen 701. The motorcycle will feature a teardrop fuel tank and a sleek tail section with split-seats. The bike is likely to share the circular LED headlamp and all-digital speedometer with the Vitpilen 701. Changes will come in the form of a raised handlebar with upright riding position and slightly forward-set foot pegs.
