In the run-up to Diwali, many car companies are offering attractive discounts on most of the models in their product catalogue. To benefit from the surge in demand, these manufacturers have been offering discounts in tune of INR 30,000 on even some of the traditional best sellers, like the Mahindra XUV500. In the second instalment of our post on Diwali 2018 car discounts, we focus on an MPV and a group of SUVs that have been on sale with sweeteners worth more than INR 50,000.

Mahindra Scorpio – Up to INR 83,000

The Mahindra Scorpio, which has been among the most popular entry-level 7-seat SUVs (avg monthly sales - 3,813 units*), is currently available with discounts worth INR 83,000. These include a cash discount of INR 40,000 and a special offer of INR 18,000. Furthermore, you benefit from an exchange bonus of INR 25,000 in case you sell your old car to Mahindra. With this, the effective base price of the SUV comes down to INR 9.27 lakh**.

Mahindra KUV100 - Up to INR 72,000

With an average monthly sales volume of 1,357 units*, the Mahindra KUV100 lags behind the Maruti Ignis (3,802 units*), its only direct competitor. To narrow this gap, M&M is selling the K6+ and the K8 variants of its micro-SUV with discounts worth INR 72,000. These include a cash discount of INR 43,000 along with an exchange bonus of INR 29,000. This brings the effective base price of the K6+ variant down to INR 6.54 lakh**.

Mahindra TUV300 - Up to INR 53,000

While the Mahindra TUV300 (avg monthly sales - 1,941 units*) hasn't been as popular as the segment-topping Maruti Vitara Brezza (13,173 units*), it seems to enjoy a dedicated set of followers. In the run-up to Diwali, Mahindra is offering discounts in tune of INR 53,000 to boost the sales of its sub-4-metre ladder-frame SUV. It is available with a cash discount of INR 38,000 along with an exchange bonus of INR 15,000. This brings down the effective base price to INR 7.80 lakh**.

Mahindra TUV300+ P4 - Up to INR 65,000

The base variant of the Mahindra TUV300+ is on sale with a cash discount of INR 40,000. Moreover, buyers get an additional 25,000 off in case they trade in their old car to Mahindra. This brings down the effective price of the base variant to INR 8.94 lakh**.

SsangYong Rexton – UP to INR 9.5 lakh

Mahindra will launch the G4 Ssangyong Rexton on 19 November. Ahead of the introduction of the all-new model, M&M dealerships have been selling the final units of the current Rexton at throwaway prices. You get a cash discount of INR 9 lakh. Along with this, you also benefit from an exchange bonus of INR 50,000. With this, the Rexton can be bought for just about INR 14 lakh**.

Honda BR-V – Up to INR 1 lakh

On an average, Honda Cars India sells only 484 units* of the BR-V every month. To give a push to its 7-seater small SUV during this year's festive period, the company is offering discounts worth INR 1 lakh. With this, the sub-CR-V SUV in the company's stable is available at an effective base price of INR 8.45 lakh**. Discounts come in the form of free 1st-year insurance, along with an exchange bonus of INR 50,000, and accessories worth INR 16,000.

Nissan Terrano - Up to INR 1.15 lakh

Recently, it came to light that Nissan has discontinued the production of the Terrano. For the Renault Duster-based small SUV, dealerships have been offering discounts to the tune of INR 1.15 lakh on this SUV (avg monthly sales - 98 units*). The price cuts are being provided in the form of free 1st-year insurance, a gold coin worth INR 20,00, an exchange bonus of INR 40,000, and an additional discount of INR 18,000 for government employees. With this, the Terrano can be bought at an effective base price of INR 9 lakh.

Renault Captur - Up to INR 3 lakh

Despite being a new car, the Renault Captur hasn't been moving out of showrooom floors, with an average monthly sales of just 355 units*. To change that this festive season, Renault India is offering some highly lucrative deals on its premium crossover. There is a direct cash discount of INR 2 lakh, which brings down the effective base price of the Captur to just INR 8 lakh**. Furthermore, some dealers are willing to sweeten the deal by offering free accessories.

Tata Hexa - Up to INR 1 lakh

While the Tata Hexa is a well-sorted product, its average monthly sales performance (780 units*) isn't a patch on that of the Mahindra XUV500 (2,533 units*). Tata Motors has been offering benefits worth INR 98,000 on the Aria-based crossover, which includes free 1st-year insurance, exchange bonus, and corporate bonus worth INR 5,000. In all, these offers reduce the base price of the Hexa to INR 11.57 lakh**.

Skoda Kodiaq - INR 1.5 lakh

The flagship offering from Skoda is available with discounts worth INR 1.5 lakh. The Kodiaq (avg. monthly sales volume - 154 units) currently has an effective base price of INR 32.34 lakh**. Buyers get a cash discount of INR 1 lakh. Old customers who decide to sell their used vehicle to Skoda benefit from an additional discount of INR 50,000.

Maruti Ertiga – Rs 65,000

Discounts of up to INR 75,100 on Swift, Dzire, Baleno & other Maruti cars

The current generation Maruti Ertiga (avg. monthly sales volume - 4,513 units*) will be replaced with the second-generation model on November 21. To clear unsold inventory, the Swift-based MPV is being sold with discount offers amounting to INR 65,000. While petrol and CNG models are sold with an exchange bonus of INR 30,000, the diesel version is available with a discount of INR 35,000. Also, the petrol and diesel variants are available with an additional discount of INR 15,000 and INR 30,000 respectively. Thanks to these deals, the Maruti Ertiga is currently available at an effective base price of INR 5.89 lakh**.
