2018 Maruti Ertiga pre-bookings kick off unofficially ahead of 21 November launch - Report

Select dealerships have started accepting pre-bookings for the 2018 Maruti Ertiga unofficially, as per a new report from Autocar India. The launch is scheduled for 21 November.

Series production of the 2018 Maruti Ertiga has commenced, and approximately 100 units are rolling off the production line a day. Dealerships are promising deliveries for pre-orders made now by the end of next month. While the outgoing model’s prices start at INR 6.34 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the redesigned model could cost around INR 7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) onwards.

If the Maruti Suzuki-badged model comes in the same dimensions as the Indonesian-spec, it will measure 4,395 mm (+40 mm) in length, 1,735 mm (+40 mm) in width and 1,690 mm (+5 mm) in height. What’s known for sure is that the wheelbase will remain the same - 2,740 mm. The Heartect platform will underpin the second-gen “LUV” (Life Utility Vehicle) now.

On the outside, the 2018 Maruti Ertiga will likely feature LED projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps. Interior highlights should include automatic climate control, roof-mounted rear AC vents, Smartplay touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink and faux wood trim.

Maruti Suzuki will sell the second generation Ertiga through the NEXA premium sales outlets. So, safety equipment of all the grades will include dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages. Reverse parking sensors are also likely to come as standard, and all the AT configurations should feature ESP with hill hold function as well.

The 2018 Maruti Ertiga will share the all-new K15B 1.5 petrol engine (104.7 PS/138 Nm) and the existing D13A 1.3-litre diesel engine (89.7 PS/200 Nm) with the 2018 Maruti Ciaz. Like the sedan, it will feature the Smart Hybrid dual battery mild-hybrid technology in all configurations in the interest of high fuel efficiency. Transmission choices will include 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
