As per an Autocar India report, the launch of the Mahindra Rexton (codename - Mahindra Y400) will take place on 9 October. This is in sync with our earlier report that Ssangyong has started shipping G4 Rexton CKD kits to India. The name of the new flagship is not announced, but it's confirmed that the G4 Ssangyong Rexton will be sold in India as a Mahindra model.
The significant disparity between India- and international-spec Rexton is the grille that features a Mahindra badge. The new model will reportedly feature a tweaked suspension setup to better suit the Indian road conditions. Apart from these adaptations, the SUV should remain as is.
The fourth generation Ssangyong Rexton draws power from a 2.2-litre e-XDi220 LET diesel engine that comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic transmission. The motor outputs a maximum power of 187 PS and a peak torque of 40.7 kg.m (400 Nm) with the manual transmission, and 187 PS and 42.8 kg.m (420 Nm) with the automatic unit. The SUV features a part-time 4WD system. The latest iteration of the Rexton is available in more configurations overseas. However, the same won't make it to India owing to the low volumes in the premium SUV segment.
The Mahindra Rexton will offer a long list of features, which will include HID headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), electric sunroof, 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, aelectric parking brake, nine airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, and more.

The Mahindra Rexton measures 4,850 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,825 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,865 mm. The new model could launch in India at a starting price of about INR 24 lakhs (ex-showroom). The introduction of the new flagship will be followed by the arrival of the S201 sub-4-metre SUV in January 2019.
