It’s no secret that Mahindra & Mahindra is working on bringing back the Jawa and BSA range of motorcycles in the Indian market. In July 2018, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, had tweeted that ‘fans can soon buy Jawa Motorcycles in India’.

Another report from March 2018 stated that Mahindra would use the Mojo’s 300cc engine on the Jawa motorcycles. The report added that the 300cc engine platform from the Mojo remains largely unutilised due to lack of sales. The 300cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine on the Mojo XT 300 is tuned to deliver 27.1 PS of maximum power and 30 Nm of peak torque. Officials have remained tight-lipped about the launch date.
While the official details are still not out, Anupam Thareja, founder - Classic Legends hinted that the motorcycles would arrive “before the end of the year.” The brand will re-start its India operations with three motorcycles. Thareja added that as many as 64 dealers are already interested in the brand and that number could go to at least a 100 by the time of launch.
Thareja said in an interview, “We had two options: you start from the point where it ended. Or start where it would have gone had it not ended at the time. From a design POV, it’s got that golden ratio that transcends through time. With the lines, you can recognise it’s a Jawa.”
In May 2018, Jawa introduced the 350 Special café racer for the European countries to celebrate the brand's racing history from the 1960’s. The motorcycle uses a 397 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is tuned to deliver 27 bhp of maximum power at 6,500 rpm and 30 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. The motorcycle has a claimed top speed of 128 km/h.

Apart from the 350 Special café racer, Jawa also has the 350 OHC retro street bike, which was launched in May 2017 in Europe. It shares its engine with the 350 Special. Both the motorcycles come equipped with disc brakes at the front and rear along with single-channel ABS as standard.
