The 2018 Maruti Ertiga reportedly launches in late-October this year. The second generation could be positioned as a premium product and go on sale through the NEXA dealerships. The new-gen MPV's test mule was spotted in India by an eagle-eyed reader last weekend.
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is underpinned by the lightweight HEARTECT platform. The new model is 99 mm longer, 40 mm wider, and 5 mm taller than its predecessor. That said, the wheelbase, at 2,740 mm, remains unchanged. The petrol variants of the all-new Ertiga get the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine that made its debut on the 2018 Maruti Ciaz (facelift). The newly developed engine replaces the 1.4-litre motor, offering a maximum power/torque of 104.7 PS/138 Nm.
Petrol variants will also feature the second generation SHVS mild-hybrid system to boost fuel efficiency and acceleration. Transmission options should include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.
Powering the diesel variants will be the same 1.3-litre, turbocharged, D13A engine that powers the existing car. The oil-burner produces a maximum power and torque of 90 PS and 200 Nm respectively. It comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Maruti Suzuki would use this engine until the advent of the Suzuki-developed 1.5-litre diesel engine, the ingeniously developed BSVI compliant motor. It is likely to come mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
Features in the 2018 Maruti Ertiga is expected to include keyless entry, engine start/stop button, SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, projector headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, steering-mounted audio controls, automatic climate control, and rear AC vents. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed alert system, seatbelt reminder for front seats, ISOFIX child seat anchors, speed-sensing auto door lock, and rear parking sensors will be standard.
The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is likely to have a base price of Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the new model should commence shortly.
