Hero MotoCorp is soon expected to launch the all-new Hero XPulse 200 in the domestic market. The company yesterday issued an image with the tagline ‘Gear Up! Another adventure awaits you’. However, according to our source, the picture is not related in any way to the XPulse 200.
The company first unveiled the Hero XPulse 200 concept at the EICMA 2017 in Milan, Italy, while the production-spec model had its Indian premiere at the 2018 Auto Expo. The XPulse 200 is touted to be the spiritual successor to the Hero Impulse 150, while it shares its engine and frame with the Hero Xtreme 200R.
Regarding the design, Hero MotoCorp has opted for function over form in the XPulse 200. The motorcycle features a round LED headlight, a sleek fuel tank with knee recesses, raised tail section and a flat single-seat setup and LED tail lamp. Hero has opted for 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels that run on dual-purpose tires. The bike gets a tall wind deflector, an engine bash plate, and a raised exhaust canister.
As far as features are concerned, the Hero XPulse 200 gains an all-digital instrument cluster, an under-seat USB charger and Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity for turn-by-turn navigation. The bike also gets a 14 litre fuel tank, while Hero is also expected to offer panniers and a top box as accessories.
Powering the Hero XPulse 200 is the same 200 cc engine that propels the Hero Xtreme 200R. On the Xtreme 200R, the single-cylinder, oil-cooled, fuel-injected motor that is capable of producing a maximum power of 18 bhp along with a peak torque of 17 Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. That said, Hero is expected to retune the engine differently on the adventure tourer to offer better low-end and mid-range torque.

Anchorage comes from disc brakes at both the ends while single-channel ABS will be standard on the XPulse 200. The motorcycle features suspension travel of 190 mm at the front and 170 mm at the rear along with a ground clearance of 220 mm and a saddle height of 825 mm.
As for launch timeline, Hero MotoCorp has revealed that the XPulse 200 will launch before the end of this year. It is expected to cost about INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom).
