As the all-new Suzuki Jimny’s Japanese launch nears, new details continue trickling into the web. A few days back, its specifications had leaked, and now, a video showing photographs of its accessories has emerged.
Suzuki Motor has created a variety of customisation options for the all-new Suzuki Jimny. First among them is a camouflage-type green paint that makes it look like a jungle safari vehicle. Then there's a slew of off-road oriented and styling accessories, such as silver skid plates, mudguards, distinctive upper grille, decals, spare wheel covers, body side mouldings and more.
The fourth generation Suzuki Jimny sits on a ladder-frame chassis. It has a 3-link rigid axle suspension and a part-time 4WD system with low-range transfer gear. These are the details Suzuki has officially revealed. Leaked images have shown two versions with different specifications in the variant walk.
The first is the 2018 Suzuki Jimny that complies with the Japanese Kei car norms. It is 3,475 mm long, 1,475 mm wide and up to 1,715 mm high. It has a 2,250 mm wheelbase and a 200 m ground clearance. A tiny 0.66-litre three-cylinder petrol engine is there under the hood, delivering 64 PS at 6,500 rpm and 103 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. It comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The second is the bigger and more capable 2018 Suzuki Jimny Sierra, which Suzuki will sell outside Japan as well. It measures 3,550 mm in length, 1,645 mm in width and 1,730 mm in height. It offers a ground clearance of 210 mm. Powering the global version is the K15B 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine, which develops 102 PS at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The transmission choices are the same.

The fourth generation Suzuki Jimny will arrive in Suzuki’s home market in the first half of this month. Its overseas debut could take place later this year, with Europe reportedly receiving the first shipment next year.
As for India, Maruti Suzuki has a plate full with renewals, refreshes and filling up white spaces in its crossover range. These priorities addressed, it could mull bringing in the off-roader.
