Suzuki has been unable to keep information regarding the fourth generation Jimny under wraps. The Ferd Facebook page, which is the same source that leaked the price of the upcoming car, has also shared images of the brochure of the new Suzuki Jimny and Suzuki Jimny Sierra revealing all specs for the Japanese market.
The 0.658 L R06A 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine powering the Suzuki Jimny makes 64 PS at 6,000 rpm and 96 Nm at 3,500 rpm. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission choices are available along with standard part-time 4WD. The Suzuki Jimny Sierra uses the 1.5 L K15B 4-cylinder petrol engine. It develops 102 PS at 6,000 rpm and 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm. As reported previously, this is the same engine that powers the 2018 Suzuki Ertiga in Indonesia and is likely to propel the 2018 Maruti Ciaz and 2018 Maruti Ertiga in India.
The new Suzuki Jimny Sierra is 3,550 mm long, 1,645 mm wide, and 1,730 mm tall. It sits on a 2,250 mm long wheelbase. The fuel tank can hold a maximum of 40 L petrol. The Jimny Sierra manual weighs in at 1,070 kg while the automatic variant tips the scales at 1,090 kg. It is shod with 195/80 R15 tires. Compared to the Sierra, the 0.6 L equipped Jimny is narrower measuring 1,475 mm wide. It is also lighter by 40-50 kg tipping the scales at 1,030 kg (manual)/1,040 kg (automatic).
The approach, breakover and departure angles of the Jimny Sierra, as per the leaked brochure, are 36-degree, 28-degree, and 50-degree respectively. The Jimny fares slightly better with a 41-degree approach and a 51-degree departure angle. It also has a tighter turning radius of 4.8 m compared to the Jimny Sierra's 4.9 m. Suzuki claims a ground clearance of 210 mm for the Jimny Sierra.
