The 2018 Suzuki Ertiga (2018 Maruti Ertiga) made its debut last week in Indonesia. It is slated to arrive in India by August 2018. It is likely to be joined by a crossover variant six months from its official launch in India, a new report suggests.
According to ET Auto, the launch of the new generation Ertiga will be followed by a "bigger sibling" six months later. This refers to the crossover variant of the MPV (YHB derivative) that is under development as reported back in October 2017. It may not be bigger than the regular Ertiga per se but is likely to have a stronger road presence thanks to SUV-inspired bits like body cladding, pronounced wheel arches, bigger rims and higher ground clearance, a la the Honda BR-V.
The second generation Ertiga, based on the new HEARTECT platform, has grown compared to the first generation model. It is 99 mm longer, 40 mm wider, and 5 mm taller. However, at 2,740 mm, the wheelbase is unchanged. Up front, there is a hexagonal chrome grille flanked by sleek projector headlamps, bumper with black inserts, a revised lower grille and a resculpted hood with prominent crease lines. At the back, there are L-shaped LED rear combination lamps, which are reminiscent of the Mitsubishi Xpander.
Inside, the Ertiga features a thick black element running across the dashboard unifying the aircon vents. The steering wheel and instrument console resemble that of the Dzire. The Indonesian-spec model gets a cabin finished in light colour materials coupled with a generous black and wood finish inserts.
