Bajaj Auto is offering a warranty of five years on its flagship offering – the Bajaj Dominar 400. The new offer is part of Bajaj’s ‘Hat-Trick Offer’ for July 2018. Bajaj Auto launched the 2018 Dominar 400 range in January.
The offer is valid on bikes purchased only in July 2018. Bajaj Auto may stop or continue the promotional offer in the future. The five-year warranty on the Bajaj Dominar 400 includes the two-year standard warranty, while an additional three-year warranty is applicable for the engine. Customers also get two-year free service on the Dominar. However, the one-year free insurance is relevant to other Bajaj bikes.
The ‘Hat-Trick Offer’ is available on all Bajaj bikes and includes various sub-offers like one-year free insurance and free service for the second year. The free insurance offer is limited to Pulsar 150, Pulsar 160, Bajaj V, Discover, and Platina. Bajaj Auto has witnessed a drop in its domestic sales, and this offer is expected to increase the sales. The promotional offer is applicable only to new customers, and existing Dominar owners have to be content with the standard warranty.
Bajaj Auto launched the Dominar 400 at a starting price of INR 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, several price hikes have resulted in a total increase of INR 10,000 since the bike's launch in December 2016. Bajaj Auto has been unsuccessful in meeting its steep target of 10,000 unit sales per month for the Dominar. However, the company is consistently clocking sales of around 2,000 units per month for its flagship offering.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 employs a 373.2 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected motor that works in tandem with a 6-speed transmission. This engine churns out 34.5 bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine features triple-spark ignition and a slipper clutch.
The engine uses a beam-type perimeter frame, while the bike gets 43 mm telescopic forks up front and a preload adjustable mono-shock at the rear. Stopping power comes from 320 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes along with optional dual-channel ABS. The bike gets 17-inch wheels that run on 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear tubeless tires.
