Bajaj Auto is reportedly working on a new Pulsar NS 160, according to a report from MotorOctane. The report states that the 2019 Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 will launch in India by October 2018.
According to MotorOctane, the new Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 will feature single-channel ABS as standard. While the design is expected to remain unchanged, the Pulsar NS 160 is likely to receive cosmetic updates in the form of new colours and graphics. Moreover, the motorcycle will remain unchanged mechanically and will continue to employ the 160.3 cc, four-valve mill. The report claims that Bajaj Auto will offer LED daytime running lights on the Pulsar NS 160 facelift, and this should make it more appealing in the market.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 rivals the likes of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ-S and the Honda CB Hornet 160R. It uses the same perimeter frame from the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 to suspend the engine and suspension. It is the only bike in its class to feature a perimeter frame, which provides better handling. It features 17-inch alloy wheels that wrap on to 80/100 R17 front and 110/80 R17 rear tubeless tires.
The motorcycle comes with a sculpted tank with extensions, a bikini fairing, and a sleek tail section with step-up seats. It has an under-belly exhaust system. Suspension hardware includes telescopic front forks and a piggy-back gas-charged mono-shock at the back with preload adjustability. Anchorage comes from a 240 mm front disc and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear.
The Bajaj Pulsar NS 160 sources power from a 160.3 cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled, four-valve engine with Tri-Spark ignition. The carburetted motor is capable of pumping out a maximum power of 15.5 PS at 8,500 rpm and developing a peak torque of 14.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 5-speed transmission. The motorcycle has a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres and a kerb weight of 142 kg.
