For the first time in a single month, Bajaj Auto has crossed cumulative sales of over 70,000 units with the Bajaj Pulsar range in the country.
The Indian two-wheeler industry saw an increase in the sales of motorcycles across segments as, for the first time, scooter sales went down in the past 18 months. The increase in the sales of the Bajaj Pulsar range is attributed to the launch of the new Pulsar 150 twin disc variant and will only get better with the Pulsar 150 Classic model launched in June at INR 67,437 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). This model is a stripped down version, which comes devoid of the tank cowls, rear disc, graphics and the split-seats.
The Bajaj Pulsar portfolio consists of models that range with engine capacities from 135, 150, 160, 180, 200 and 220cc. The flagship Pulsar RS 200 and NS 200 are also available with an optional single-channel ABS unit. The company also has the sportier Pulsar NS 160, which directly competes against the TVS Apache RTR 160. Moreover, the company also introduced the 2018 Pulsar Black Pack Edition in January 2018, which has also helped the Pulsar brand to reach this sales milestone.
The Bajaj Pulsar 150 rear disc model is powered by the same 149.5cc DTS-I engine that powers the regular variant. This engine produces 14 bhp of power and 13.4 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Excluding the Pulsar NS 200 and the RS 200, the entire Pulsar range comes devoid of ABS even as an option. However, that is set to change once the new safety norms kick in from April 2019.

Bajaj Auto is also reportedly planning to launch the entry-level Pulsar 125 in India in 2019, which will become the new entry-point in the premium commuter segment for the Pune-based company. Owning to the new safety norms, prices of motorcycles above 125 cc are set to rise. Rumours are rife that this might trigger Bajaj Auto to discontinue the Pulsar 135 LS.
