BMW Motorrad has commenced pre-bookings for the G 301 R and GS in India. The BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS are manufactured locally at TVS' plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu and will become the company's cheapest two-wheeler offerings in the Indian market once launched.
Bookings for both motorcycles can be made at authorized BMW Motorrad outlets or online at bmw-motorrad.in. The amount has been set at INR 50,000. While an official launch date is yet to be specified, the bikes are expected to go on sale in the June-July 2018 period.
According to a previous report citing dealer level sources, the BMW G 310 R will cost around INR 3 lakhs (on-road), while the BMW G 310 GS will command a premium of around INR 50,000 over it.
Both motorcycles are powered by a 313 cc single cylinder DOHC 4-valve engine with fuel injection and liquid cooling. It develops max power of 34 PS at 9,500 rpm and a peak torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed transmission.
The BMW G 310 R uses 41 mm upside down forks up front and suspension duties at the rear are handled by a monoshock with adjustable preload. Stopping power comes from a 300 mm front disc with a 4-piston radial caliper up front and a 240 mm rear disc with single-piston floating caliper at the rear. The motorcycle features ABS.
The BMW G 310 GS features a design and cycle parts to suit its rugged nature. The bike features 41 mm upside down front forks with a gold anodized finish and a monoshock with adjustable preload for the rear. The front and rear suspension offer 180 mm of travel. Brakes are the same as the G 310 R. The G 310 GS is shod with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear Metzeler Tourance tires.

The BMW G 310 R was unveiled in November 2015 and was showcased for the first time on Indian soil at the 2016 Auto Expo the following February. It is already being manufactured in India for export. The BMW G 310 GS adventure motorcycle made its debut a year later in November 2016 and was on display at the 2018 Auto Expo earlier this year in February.
