BMW Motorrad India has showcased its retro-modern motorcycle, the BMW R nineT Scrambler at the 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. Here are the scrambler's live images from the show.
The BMW R nineT Scrambler is a combination of old-school feel of an air-cooled boxer engine, and capable dynamics off the road. The display motorcycle features Metzeler knobby tyres, and spoke wheels to take on the unexplored terrains. The high-set twin exhaust will help in its water-wading capabilities as well. The riding position is upright, with easy to reach handlebars. The motorcycle costs INR 15.9 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Powering the BMW R nineT Scrambler is a 1,170 cc flat twin with air and oil cooling. The engine makes 110 PS of power at 7,750 rpm, and 116 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. A 6-speed transmission transfers the power to the wheel via a shaft drive. Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and ABS are standard.
Coming to the suspension bits, the BMW R nineT Scrambler employs a 43 mm front telescopic fork with gaiters. The rear comes with BMW Motorrad Paralever with central spring strut. Its spring preload is steplessly adjustable by hook wrench, and the rebound is adjustable as well. Twin 320 mm front discs and a single 265 mm rear disc handle the anchoring duty. The bike comes with a big 17-litre steel tank; and tips the scale at 220 kg, kerb. The Ducati Scrambler, Triumph Street Scrambler are its primary competitors in the Indian market.
