The BMW 8 Series Coupe’s exterior and interior have leaked online in images published on Facebook page Magazín ProDriver CZ. The production version of the BMW Concept 8 Series will debut later this year.
While the BMW 8 Concept 8 Series had a very powerful and angry front fascia, the production BMW 8 Series looks rather graceful at the front, just like how most GT buyers would expect it to. BMW appears to have toned down the aggression at the front with larger headlamps, new air vents in a horizontal orientation, revised central air intake and a redesigned bumper. At the rear, the production BMW 8 Series has a flattish ducktail spoiler, larger tail lamps, wider trunk lid, smaller vertical air vents, revised bumper with reflectors and a carbon-fibre diffuser housing the dual trapezoidal exhaust tailpipes.
The BMW 8 Series Coupe will arrive in the market as a replacement for the BMW 6 Series Coupe. Reports suggest that BMW will offer the CLAR platform-based BMW 8 Series in BMW 840i, BMW 850i and BMW M860i xDrive M Performance engine models. The BMW 840i will have a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol engine, while the BMW 850i will employ a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine. The BMW M860i xDrive M Performance will use the 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 petrol engine from the BMW M760Li xDrive M Performance.
The range should include a BMW 830d diesel engine model powered by the BMW 730d’s 3.0-litre diesel engine as well as an iPerformance plug-in hybrid variant featuring the BMW 740e’s powertrain. BMW has already confirmed a high-performance BMW M8, which will sport a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine.
