The instrumentation is an analogue-digital affair. Commenting on the launch, Roy Kurian, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. said:
The new version of YZF-R3 carries the testimony of Yamaha’s commitment to its customers. The award winning, twin cylinder motorcycle is now available with the dual channel ABS technology and Metzeler radial tyres that disburse extraordinary grip and high performance. Known for its riding controls and nimbleness, Yamaha is confident that the new YZF-R3 will earnestly appeal the biking enthusiasts and will continue to be the preferred choice for the customers.
The bike uses a 321 cc parallel twin motor with liquid cooling and fuel injection. It makes the same output as the previous generation bike, at 41 bhp at 10,750 rpm, and 29.6 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension bits include 41 mm Kayaba telescopic front fork, and a rear monoshock. The 298 mm front and the 220 mm rear disc help the bike come to a halt. The front end gets a 110-section rubber while the rear comes with a 140-section unit.
The bike is INR 12,000 cheaper than the Kawasaki Ninja 300, while offering dual-channel ABS as standard. Other rivals of this bike include Benelli 302R, KTM RC 390 and the TVS Apache RR 310.
