The 2018 Maruti Swift has been spotted completely undisguised during a TVC shoot. The image shared by Instagram handle 'carsandbunmaska' was captured in Lonavala. Pre-launch media activities for the new Maruti Swift will commence in January followed by its market launch.
This is the first sighting of the India-spec 2018 Maruti Swift. It reveals the two-tone 5-split-spoke alloy wheel design that will feature on the top end trims. The example pictured here is devoid of any form of badging on the boot lid. Apart from the alloy wheels, the rest of the car is visually identical to the one on sale in multiple markets globally.
Maruti will offer the new Swift with the same engines as its predecessor. Diesel variants will be powered by a 1.3 L DDiS engine while the petrol variants will employ a 1.2 L K-Series engine. Both will come with a choice of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearboxes.
The 2018 Maruti Swift will gain features like a 7-inch Smartplay infotainment with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mirror Link support, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and LED tail lights among others.
In a first for the Swift model line, MSIL is expected to bring the hybrid and Sport variants of the hatchback to India. While the company is yet to confirm these launches, reports indicate that they will arrive a few months after the launch of the regular petrol and diesel variants.
