2018 Maruti Swift Sport India launch on the cards
The launch of the Swift Sport will take place a few months after the launch of the regular petrol and diesel variants.

According to CarandBike, Maruti will initially launch the  1.2 L Petrol and 1.3 L Diesel variants of the Swift. The launch of the of the Swift Sport will take place a couple of months down the line. As the name suggests, the Swift Sport is a more exciting version of the hatchback thanks mainly to the 1.4 L turbocharged four-cylinder petrol mill, which develops 140 PS at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque from 2,500-3,500 rpm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

The 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport is 3,890 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and 1,500 mm tall. Compared to the regular Swift, it is 50 mm longer. The show car present at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2017 had a ground clearance of 120 mm. However, it may be increased to better suit Indian conditions. Visually, the Swift Sport is different from the vanilla version thanks to a unique radiator grille and bumper design, the addition of front lip spoiler, side skirts and a rear diffuser, sportier, 17-inch alloy wheels and dual exhausts.

In terms of power output, the only real rival to the Swift Sport will be the Fiat Abarth Punto. That is assuming Maruti brings it in the same spec as global markets.
