Just a day after GaadiWaadi reported that Maruti Suzuki will launch the 2018 Ertiga in India on 18 November, a new report from Autocar India says that the launch will take place on 21 November, 2018. The company has extensively tested the second generation model on the roads for nearly a year now.

The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is larger than its predecessor. It is 99 mm longer, 40 mm wider and 5 mm taller. That said, the wheelbase, at 2,740 mm, has remained unchanged. The all-new model is underpinned by the HEARTECT platform, which made its debut in India in the Maruti Baleno and is used for the Swift, Dzire and Ignis. Other than a larger footprint, the all-new version will offer a slew of new features, including keyless entry, push-button start/stop, projector headlamps, LED tail lamps and more.

The 2018 Maruti Ertiga will be the second recipient of the K15B 1.5-litre petrol engine that was introduced in India in the 2018 Maruti Ciaz. The naturally-aspirated four-cylinder motor outputs a maximum power of 77 kW (103.26 hp) and a peak torque of 138 Nm. It will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. A 4-speed automatic unit will be optional. The Indonesian-spec Ertiga has a claimed fuel economy of 18.06 km/l with a manual transmission and 16.73 km/l with the automatic unit. The Indian-spec MPV should offer a higher efficiency owing to the usage of the SHVS mild-hybrid system.

Powering the diesel version will be the current version's D13A 1.3-litre turbocharged unit. This motor comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission and produces a maximum power of 88 hp and a peak torque of 200 Nm. The FCA-sourced engine is expected to be replaced by an indigenously developed BSVI-compliant 1.5-litre engine with a 6-speed manual transmission in 2019.
