The 2018 Jeep Wrangler that was unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show has reached India. Instagram page exoticcarsingoa has posted a spy photo that shows the 2018 Jeep Wrangler undergoing road testing in Goa.
The fourth generation Jeep Wrangler features an evolutionary design, and as before, is a body-on-frame SUV. The redesigned model features a more rakish windshield for improved aerodynamics and has an A-pillar that now stays in place even when the windshield is folded down, allowing the rearview mirror to remain in place at all times. The keystone-shaped grille also contributes to the improved aerodynamics with its swept-back top. A lowered beltline with larger windows provides better outward visibility.
Other exterior highlights include LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, LED turn signals positioned on the trapezoidal wheel flares, 18-inch wheels and LED tail lamps. Once again, the famed go-anywhere SUV is available in dozens of different door, top and windshield combinations. Jeep is testing the 4-door version (Unlimited) in India.
The interior of the all-new Jeep Wrangler is also not all that different from the previous generation model, with a design and layout resembling its predecessor. However, Jeep has made it more modern by incorporating new technologies to improve comfort, convenience, and infotainment.
Noteworthy features include 7-inch TFT LED driver information display configurable in 100+ ways, 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system, push-button starter with a weather-proof surround, longer armrests, four USB ports, 12-volt accessory outlets and a 115-volt AC auxiliary power outlet to power up mobile phones, electronics and more.
Jeep has introduced the Jeep Wrangler JL with three engines: 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol, 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V6 and 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 diesel.
The all-new turbocharged petrol engine develops 270 hp and (295 lb.-ft.) 400 Nm of torque. It is mated to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. It comes with an eTorque mild-hybrid system that improves fuel economy and launch performance and provides more driver comfort during start/stop operations.
The upgraded naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 285 hp and (260 lb.-ft.) 352 Nm of torque. It is coupled to an all-new 6-speed manual transmission or a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine produces 260 hp and 442 lb.-ft. (598 Nm) of torque. It is paired with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. An engine start-stop system is standard in models equipped with these engines.
The Sport and Sahara models are equipped with the Command-Trac 4x4 system, which features a part-time, two-speed transfer case with a 2.72:1 low-range gear ratio. A new Selec-Trac two-speed transfer case with full-time 4WD mode and a low range is available in the latter.
The Rubicon models use the Rock-Trac 4x4 system, featuring a two-speed transfer case with a 4:1 low-range gear ratio, next-gen Dana 44 axles, Tru-Lok electric front- and rear-axle lockers, and electronic sway bar disconnect.

Specifications of the Indian-spec Jeep Wrangler JL are currently unknown. Like the third-gen model, the fourth-gen model will arrive as a CBU import. Its production takes place in the north plant of the Toledo Assembly Complex in the state of Ohio, USA. Production of the right-hand drive Jeep Wrangler will reportedly commence in June this year, beginning with the 4-door version. Prices could start at around INR 70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
