With the facelift, the second generation Hyundai i20 has adopted the brand’s new signature design element - the Cascading grille. Other exterior changes include remodelled bumpers, reshaped fog lamps, new alloy wheels, tweaked tail lamp graphics and redesigned tailgate housing the registration plate. Inside, Hyundai has used chrome trim for the central air vents and the infotainment system with a reduced amount of buttons.

Hyundai offers the pre-facelift Hyundai i20 with the 83 PS 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine, the 100 PS 1.4-litre Dual VTVT petrol engine and the 90 PS 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine. These engines are coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission, a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 6-speed manual transmission respectively. The company will discontinue the 1.4-litre petrol engine and the 4-speed automatic transmission with the mid-cycle update. Buyers will have the option for a continuously variable transmission in the 2018 Hyundai i20 with the 1.2-litre petrol engine.
