Hero MotoCorp plans to launch 3 two-wheelers this fiscal, and one of them will be a feature-rich 125cc scooter targeted at urban youth, reports Autocar Professional.
The publication's source in the know of the development stated:
The company has taken note of the recent developments in the domestic market. The product team is planning to position its 125cc scooter at the young urban commuters offering a unisex profile. The new scooter is designed and developed to make a style statement on the lines of Piaggio’s Vespa and Yamaha Fascino scooters. Expect the package to be aggressively priced when launched in the market.

Currently in the mass-market 125cc scooter space, only Suzuki offers retro-looking scooter in the form of the Access 125. Piaggio’s Vespa range (SXL 125 and VXL 125) are on the higher-end of the price spectrum. Honda’s Activa 125 is conservatively designed, targeting the commuter. Hence, this segment offers the ripe opportunity for Hero MotoCorp to exploit by pricing the upcoming product competitively. Moreover, with 6,000 service centres, Hero has a greater reach in the country than Suzuki, and it could very well work in its favour.
