As per a report on MotorBeam, Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming 125 cc scooter, the Dare, will be sold as the Hero Aava in the country from the first quarter of 2018.
The report also states that in the next financial year, the launch of two new Hero scooters apart from Aava are in the works, in a bid to beat Honda in the scooter market. The Hero Dare was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The Dare uses a 124.6cc single-cylinder mill which is capable of producing 9.38 hp at 7,500 rpm and 9.8 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a CVT unit. The scooter features alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights and an all-digital instrument console. The fuel tank capacity stands at 6 litres and the scooter weighs 114 kg.
For suspension, the scooter employs telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The scooter gets a 200 mm disc at the front and a rear drum unit for anchorage. Tubeless tyres wrap the dual-tone alloy wheels. The ground clearance is at 155 mm. When launched, the Dare will rival the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125.
