A TAI member snapped the posterior of a 2018 Mahindra Scorpio test mule on the streets of Nashik. This Scorpio features less camouflage and reveals some of the changes.

The taillamps are not clear lens units anymore, the windshield wiper is a beam style unit, and the U-Shaped crease below the registration plate is flattened out.

From what we can infer, the taillamps are not clear lens units anymore, and the tailgate styling is plainer. The rear windshield wiper is now a beam-style unit. The registration plate enclosure gets a traditional applique housing the bulb. Being a mid-cycle refresh, expect nothing more than a nip and tuck. The front-end receives a redesigned grille with bolder chrome inserts and a new bumper with vertical slats in the radiator grille. Also new to the Scorpio facelift are turn indicators mounted on the ORVMs.

Stepping inside, one can expect updated colour themes, upholstery and trim materials, as well as a newer 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, EcoSense and Connected Apps. Expect a set of jump seats for the third row.

Reports speculate that Mahindra could tweak the transverse-mounted 2.2L mHawk 4-cyl turbodiesel motor to produce 140 bhp (20 bhp up). While the 5-speed manual option remains, the automatic variant will make a comeback with the new 6-speed Aisin torque converter. Given that the government removed tax benefits on mild-hybrid vehicles, the refreshed Scorpio will not come equipped with Intelli-Hybrid to lower costs.
