Likely to arrive in late-2018 or early 2019.

According to Autocar India, the Jeep Renegade will be the next product to launch in India following the Jeep Compass, which is expected to happen in late-2018 or early 2019.

FCA had made it clear on previous occasions that the Jeep Renegade will not launch in India.

This is an interesting turnaround, given that Jeep had made it clear on previous occasions that the Renegade will not launch in India. However, we continue to get spyshots of the Jeep Renegade testing along with pre-production Compass prototypes on Indian roads, and that FCA is counting on the Jeep brand to make their presence felt, suggesting that company may have had a change of heart.

If the production is localised to a high percentage, Jeep can price it competitively to rival it against top-end variants of the Hyundai Creta and upcoming Renault Captur. It measures 4,255 mm long, 1,805 mm wide, 1,697 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,570 mm. It borrows styling cues from the Jeep Wrangler, featuring boxy lines and rugged elements.

The test mules have been spied featuring black leather seat upholstery with silver accents, leather steering wheel, climate control system, UConnect touchscreen system, 3.5-inch TFT instrument panel, rear parking sensors and cruise control. The Renegade is a strict 5-seater with a boot capacity of 354L.

Engine options are likely to include the locally assembled 2.0L Multijet turbodiesel and 1.4L MultiAir turbopetrol, both sourced from the Jeep Compass, but will be detuned. A 4WD Active Drive system could be offered in top-end variants.
