Debut expected at Paris Motor Show this year.
The current, third generation Maruti Swift, introduced in June 2010, is nearing the end of its lifecycle. It has been known for quite some time that Suzuki Europe is working on the fourth generation Suzuki Swift. Speculative renderings from Avtofokus preview the next-gen 2017 Maruti Swift. The renderings seem to be of the 2017 Swift Sport, but do give a good idea of how the standard next-gen Swift may look like.
The 2017 Swift and 2017 Swift Sport have already been seen in leaked official images. Both Swift and Swift Sport will move to their next generation with an evolutionary redesign, remaining nearly the same in shape and size.
The next-gen Maruti Swift will be based on the all-new Maruti Baleno's high-rigidity and lightweight new-generation platform. Thanks to this new lightweight platform, the hatchback should shed nearly 50 kg in kerb weight. The Euro-spec version, which will be sold as Suzuki Swift, will likely be offered with the K12C 1.2-litre DUALJET naturally aspirated four-cylinder and K10C DITC 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engines. The 2017 Suzuki Swift Sport will be powered by the K14C-DITC 1.4-litre BOOSTERJET turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine from the current Suzuki Vitara.

In India, the 2017 Maruti Swift will likely continue with the current model's 1.2-litre VVT naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine. However, the current Fiat-sourced DDiS diesel engine could be replaced by a new unit developed in-house.
