To enter production in China this year.
AutoHome has posted clear images of the 2017 Jeep Compass which is due to be unveiled later this month at FCA's new Pernambuco assembly plant in Brazil. Also, these are the first images of the Chinese-spec 2017 Jeep Compass, which will be made in China with a high degree of localization.
The 2017 Jeep Compass for China is likely to be made by the Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd (GAC Group) partner. FCA, along with this partner, operate a plant in Guangzhou which currently makes the Jeep Renegade. FCA announced that "a second model is expected to enter production by the end of 2016" at this plant, hinting that the new Compass will be made here.
It is to be noted that the 2017 Jeep Compass reportedly shares the Small-Wide platform with the Jeep Renegade. However, when launched, the 2017 Compass will be positioned between the Renegade and the Jeep Cherokee with pricing expected along these lines too.
Reports state that the 2017 Jeep Compass will be powered by a 2.0-liter petrol engine (with flex-fuel capability for the South American market) and a 2.0-liter MultiJet diesel engine. Transmission choices are expected to include a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic unit.

The 2017 Jeep Compass will also be manufactured at the FCA-Tata JV plant in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra, India. The SUV is expected to enter production in H1 2017, and have its market launch around the same time. Aside from the domestic market, the India-made 2017 Compass will also be exported to other right-hand drive markets.
