The tenth generation Honda Civic was launched by Honda with its domestic joint venture partner Dongfeng Motors in China in April this year. The only variant sold is the '220Turbo', powered by the 1.5-litre VTEC TURBO turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 130 kW (174.26 hp) and 220 Nm of torque.
Towards the end of the year, the new generation Civic sedan range will see addition of a new entry-level '180Turbo' model in the country. Months ahead of its launch, the Honda Civic 180Turbo has been spied by PCauto.com.cn. It is said to be powered the 1.0-litre VTEC TURBO turbocharged three-cylinder petrol unit that was earlier confirmed for the Euro-spec 2017 Honda Civic. This engine is not yet available on a production vehicle, but it produced 127 hp and 200 Nm on a Civic prototype that was shown to the media last year.

The 1.0-litre turbocharged engine should enter production by Q4 2016 as that's when the 2017 Honda Civic 180Turbo will reportedly go on sale. European sales of the 2017 Honda Civic will commence in early 2017.
As for the Indian launch of the tenth-gen Civic, a new report says that HCIL will target a volume of 30,000 units when it goes on sale in 2018-19.
