Update -
Here are additional images of the 2017 BMW 5 Series which appear to be scans from a magazine that will hit the stands after the car's launch. Expect the new 5 Series in India in late 2017.
European launch expected in early-2017.
According to Germancarforum, this is the next-generation 2017 BMW 5 Series, which will have its world premiere on October 13. The seventh-generation BMW 5 Series (BMW G30) will enter production in Germany in the coming weeks, and will have its European market launch in early-2017 reportedly.
Based on the CLAR (CLuster ARchitecture) rear-wheel drive platform of the 2016 BMW 7 Series, the 2017 5 Series is expected to be up to 100 kg lighter than its predecessor. The exterior is a design evolution over the outgoing model with a larger kidney grille connecting the headlight clusters, sporty bumpers with larger airdams, a single crease running the width of the sedan and LED taillights with a more rounded design.
Inside, the 2017 BMW 5 Series borrows a bit of inspiration from the new 7 Series. A slimmer steering wheel (the image shows the optional M-Sport steering wheel), a fully-digital instrument cluster and a large iDrive monitor (which is expected to get gesture controls) highlight the interior of the E Class-rival.

BMW is expected to offer 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions with a conventional rear-wheel drive and optional xDrive all-wheel drive system.
More details on the 2017 5 Series are expected on October 13.
