The price of the Royal Enfield Himalayan will be revealed mid-march.

The Himalayan is the first adventure tourer the company has developed. It is an all-new motorcycle that is said to have not used a single part/component from any other Royal Enfield motorcycle. Based on a half-duplex split-cradle chassis, the Himalayan is suspended by a 41 mm fork that has 200 mm travel, and a monoshock on swingarm that has 180 mm travel.

The bike is decelerated by a 300 mm disc brake with a two-piston floating caliper upfront and a 240 mm disc brake with a single-piston floating caliper at the rear. The dual purpose tyres are from Ceat, of sizes 90/90-21 and 120/90-17.

The RE Himalayan has an upright riding position with slightly rear-set foot pegs that are positioned straight below the rider's seat. The wide handlebar hosts circular rear view mirrors and the visor on top of the 12V H4 60/55W halogen headlamp is tall and clear. The bike has minimal body work and decals, with the most conspicuous body part being the 15-litre fuel tank. It is flanked by two railings that hold the head lamp, which act as mounts for accessories like jerry cans.

The Himalayan is powered by an all-new 411 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with SOHC and carburettor, that produces 24.5 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4,000-4,500 rpm.

Sharing the fuel tank's colour are the front and rear mud flaps which host the signature Himalayan stripe that runs longitudinally over the bike. The rear end has mounts for RE-official aluminium panniers (on either side of the pillion seat), a rear luggage carrier and an LED tail lamp.
