The first-lot of Maruti Balenos that were shipped from India in January has arrived at the Toyohashi Port, Japan yesterday. This marks a new milestone for the Maruti Baleno, which is the first-ever Suzuki imported into Japan from India.
This will be followed by export to European markets such as France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark and Spain. In Italy, Suzuki launched a limited edition Baleno Web S (online pre-order only) which is priced from 15,900 Euros (INR 11.55 lakhs).
The Suzuki Baleno for Japan comprises of an India-made 1.0-liter Boosterjet engine which develops 110 hp and 170 Nm, along with a 1.2-liter Dualjet engine with SHVS technology. Power is transferred via a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
With India being the production hub for the Baleno as well as home to the compact Maruti Vitara Brezza, MSIL will now play a significant role in the growth of the Japanese manufacturer in markets across the globe.
