Expected in India in H2 2016.
The all-new 2016 Skoda Superb was spotted in China ahead of its planned market launch in November this year. For the Chinese market, the Superb will be sold by the Shanghai-VW joint venture, though it remains to be seen if the luxury sedan is locally-manufactured from the very beginning.
The Superb made its first Chinese public appearance at the Auto Shanghai in April this year. For the Chinese market, the Superb is likely to come with 1.4-, 1.8- or 2.0-liter TSI petrol engines paired to a DSG transmission driving the front wheels. Additionally, the top-end 2.0-liter TSI could also get a 4x4 variant for improved drivability through slippery conditions.
Based on the MQB platform, the new Superb weighs a considerable 75 kg lighter than its predecessor, and comes exclusively with four-cylinder engines. It also promises better interior comfort thanks to an 80 mm increase in wheelbase and 69 mm better elbow room in the passenger compartment. Boot space too has gone up by 30 liters to 625 liters.
