Based on Renault-Nissan CMF platform.
The next generation 2016 Renault Megane has leaked online, courtesy of carpassion.it, giving a first look at the exterior and interior of the new premium hatchback. It will debut at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt, as confirmed to IAB by Laurens Van Den Acker, Senior Vice President, Corporate Design, Renault.
The variant above is of the sporty Megane GT, which slots below the power-packed Renault Megane R.S. It adopts a mature styling that borrows cues from the Renault Talisman and 2015 Renault Espace, with features like a redesigned set of headlamps flowing into a V-shaped grille, a new bumper design with larger air intakes, sleek LED taillamps, sportier bumper and dual exhaust tips.
The 2016 Renault Megane will get an upmarket interior with better build quality and equipment levels. Taking the center stage is a large infotainment touchscreen display that integrates most of the interior functions into the system, thus reducing the button count. The instrument cluster now has a tachometer in the center and a digital speedometer within it.

The next generation model will be based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF architecture (CMF-CD). Switching from the outgoing model’s C-Platform to the CMF will help the company keep production costs low, as well as shed weight from the outgoing model.
Details on the engine lineup are scarce currently. It is expected to pack a downsized engine lineup, which could include a 1.6 TCe turbocharged petrol engine producing between 160-200 PS.
