Is based on a new platform and debuts the 1.5 turbo VTEC engine outside Japan.
CivicX has published pictures of an undisguised pre-production 2016 Honda Civic Sedan (USA-spec) ahead of its confirmed global debut on September 16.
Caught in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the car is very different from the current gen Civic, sporting a coupe-ish roofline, boomerang-shaped taillamps and a thick chrome grille that is part of the new 'EXCITING H!!! Design' philosophy.
The 2016 Honda Civic is the "most ambitious remake in its 43-year history", and will come with optional full LED headlamps, the new 1.5-liter VTEC turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a short-shift 6-speed transmission or an optional CVT. Honda claims that the efficiency of the turbo engine would make CNG and Hybrid variants look unnecessary. A 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine would be the other engine option in the USA.
Though these images don't show the interior, previous images showed that it features a standard dashboard design (ditching the split layout of the current vehicle), ECON driving mode, HondaWatch Blindspot camera, electric parking brake, leather seats, cruise control and heated rear seats.
