The 2016 Ford Endeavour (Ford Everest in non-Indian markets) was spotted testing at Mt. Evans in Colorado, U.S.A, by readers of Jalopnik. The prototype was reportedly undergoing high altitude testing.
The new Endeavour takes its design inspiration from the Ford Everest concept that was shown at the Bangkok International Motor Show in March this year. A Ford official revealed that the production version will look exactly like the concept, save for details like the wing mirrors and wheels which will be toned down to meet the production line.
The engines are expected to be carried over from the current model, which is available with a 2.5-liter diesel engine making 143 PS and a 3.0-liter diesel producing 156 PS. Where the current Endeavour uses a 5-speed automatic transmission, Ford will upgrade the gearbox to a 6-speed unit on the newer model.
Ford India launched a refreshed Endeavour in April this year, and will follow up by launching the next generation model in 2015. Like the current model, the 2016 Endeavour would be made at Ford's Chennai plant from CKD kits shipped from Thailand.
