World debut at IAA 2015 in Frankfurt.
Further adding credence to its arrival is the latest entry in Zauba, an import/export database, which reveals that the 2016 BMW X1 has been imported into India for testing.
It is the first BMW product for India to ride on the company's new UKL platform, and is a whopping 135 kg lighter than its predecessor, thus weighing a mere 1,430 kg. The 2016 BMW X1 measures 4,439 mm in length, 1,821 mm in width, 1,598 mm in height and 2,670 mm in wheelbase. While the overall length is 36 mm shorter than the outgoing model, it has grown 21 mm wider and 53 mm taller.
The listing states that model imported is the X1 sDrive20d, which produces 190 hp and 400 Nm. Power is sent through an optional 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox to the front wheels. An xDrive AWD system could be available in an higher variant. Its fuel consumption and carbon emission (NEDC standards) are rated at 24.49 km/L and 128 g/km, respectively.
