Prices to be revealed soon.
BMW Motorrad of Thailand has unveiled the 2016 BMW R nineT Scrambler and the brushed aluminium fuel tank for the R nineT at the 37th Bangkok International Motor Show (2016 BIMS). They will be launched in the coming months.
The existing R nineT is priced at THB 1,090,000 (INR 20.64 lakhs) and the edition with the brushed-aluminium fuel tank is priced at THB 1,110,000 (INR 21.03 lakhs). A local official told Indian Autos Blog at the show that the price difference of THB 20,000 (INR 38,000) between the standard and the aluminium-tank version is likely to remain the same with the 2016 model year.
The BMW R nineT Scrambler made its world debut at the 2015 EICMA. It is a lower-spec version of the BMW R nineT roadster. The scrambler is characterised by a 19-inch front wheel, deeper treaded Metzeler tyres and standard 43 mm fork with 4.92 inches of travel in place of the inverted Ohlins unit, a steel fuel tank instead of an aluminium unit, bars and exhaust positioned higher, new seat, and the foot pegs that have been pushed a bit lower and backwards.
The 2016 BMW R nineT gets two choices for the brushed aluminium fuel tank. The tanks are hand-brushed and gloss-varnished and are differentiated by the presence of a longitudinal welding seam. The one presented at the 2016 BIMS has visible welding seam. Since they are hand-brushed, every tank is unique.
Both models are powered by the same 1,170 cc air/oil-cooled flat-twin cylinder engine with two camshafts, four radially aligned valves per cylinder and a central balancer shaft. The motor develops 110 hp at 7,550 rpm and 119 Nm at 6,000 rpm, and is mated to a six-speed transmission.
